How Irish people celebrated their hundred years of independence?
It is being a century now when Ireland was declared a free state from the invasion of a British rule. The Irish people celebrated their hundred years of independence in a patriotic way. There were thousands of Irish people that gathered to commemorate their independence. The streets of Dublin were full of crowd when Irish people gathered around to celebrate the Easter rising. Most of the people that don’t know about the Easter rising, Easter rising is an event when an armed insurrection in Ireland took place during the Easter Week in the year April 1916.
A rebellion movement was initiated in order to end the British rule. Due to the activity of the rebellions, Ireland successfully got the independence. It took almost six days when Ireland finally made the history. The Ireland anniversary was celebrated by the people in a devoted manner. Across the capital most of the building were seized by the crowd in order to mark the solidarity of the nation. The purpose was to celebrate the Easter Monday 1916. The event began with the ceremony in which the wreath was laid at the Kilmainham Gaol. It is a place where the rebels were executed by the British. It was a complete display of the power when more than 4,000 members of the army planned a parade for the whole nation.
General post office was one of the places that are of great importance. The president of Ireland republic also laid wreath onto the post office. The post office was once used at the headquarters by the rebels. Later on there was one-minute silence by the whole crowd in order to pay tribute to the people who dies during rebel period. There was a military band that was organized to play the famous theme of a Danny boy. Then same army band read the proclamation declaring that made the crowd enthusiastic. There were more than 1000 rebels that participated in the independence. The rebels took control of most of the government building in the year 1916. There was a fight between the rebels and the British government that ended on April 29 five days after the rebel took the government buildings and offices.
The rebels were forced to surrender but then a new movement started in Ireland. Initially people didn’t support the rebels, but later on public opinion shifted towards the support of the rebels. It took almost six years to make Ireland an independent state. The Ireland anniversary is basically held to support the idea of Independent Ireland where every Irish citizen has its own rights. The anniversary has a significant role in making the nation remember that what kind of role has played by the rebels in order to get an independent state. Recently the elections were conducted and the caretaker government took over all the matters of the government. No party has gained the majorly as the government is still under the transition process.
